Some lawmakers are consdering a income tax cut for some Iowans. A plan discussed Thursday by Hull Republican senator Randy Feenstra has only three tax brackets and no state income tax would be paid if a person makes less than $6,848 a year. However, Feenstra says he wants lawmakers to consider the proposal next year due to the state's budget picture that's been hampered by weak revenues. Iowa's current top tax rate is almost nine percent, but that would be reduced to slightly more than 5.6 percent.
