Medical marijuana bill advances

The use of medical marijuana to treat nearly 20 chronic and debilitating conditions is moving forward in the Iowa Legislature.  A Senate subcommittee Wednesday approved a measure which will move on to the full Senate Appropriations Committee for debate.  The bill could be approved by the full Senate as early as Monday and it would then head to the House for consideration.  Among the conditions that would be covered under the medical marijuana bill are multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, ALS, cancer, PTSD, epilepsy and seizure disorders, AIDS, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and rheumatoid arthritis.
