Iowa Senate passes "sanctuary" ban

A majority of Iowa senators are in favor of blocking "sanctuary" policies in Iowa's cities and counties.  Senators voted 32-15 Wednesday to pass the measure that would punish localities financially if they continue with sanctuary policies.  No state funds would go to cities and counties if they become a sanctuary for illegal immigrants, and federal detainer requests would have to be honored.  The Iowa House can now consider the measure, but there are very few days left in the legislative session.
