City, school district resume Ames indoor pool talks

It appears City of Ames and the Ames School District have resumed discussion on a partnership to build a new indoor aquatic center.  Superintendent Tim Taylor says the district came back to the table after getting some clarification from it's attorneys on just what kind of financial commitment it could make to the project.  He says they can't simply write the city a check to help pay for construction, but can enter into a lease agreement with cash upfront. Taylor says the city and the district still need to work out a compromise with those who want a warm-water recreation and therapy pool, and those who want a cold water competition basin. No word on what the school district and city's conversation on a new pool will do to a proposed healthy life center that was to be a partnership between the city, Mary Greeley Medical Center, Iowa State, and a handful of other organizations.
