Ames cuts ribbon on new hangar

The City of Ames showed off the first phase of improvements to the municipal airport. Ribbon was cut on a new $1.1 million hanger that was funded through a partnership between the city, Ames Economic Development Commission, and Iowa State University. Airport Manager Damion Pregitzer says the 11,500 square foot building provides more shelter to airplanes. He says the airport also has a new fixed base operator. Central Iowa Air Service handles the airport's operation under contract with the city. Pregitzer says work on an expanded and renovated airport terminal building should be finished in July.
