Iowa sees increase in STD rates

Officials with the Iowa Department of Public Health are reminding people that April is Sexually Transmitted Disease Awareness Month.  The department says there has been a sharp increase of reported STDs in Iowa over the last three years, which mirrors a national trend.  The health department says sexually active people should be tested regularly.  Early detection and treatment of STDs can prevent long-term health problems and are key in reducing transmission to other people.
