Ames superintendent wants $300,000 for personnel next year

The Ames School District's superintendent is asking the school board for more than $300,000 for new hiring in the next school year. Tim Taylor says that request includes $134,000 for a new human resources director, a role he's been filling the last seven years. He says he's concerned the district could open itself to legal issues by not having a full time HR director. Taylor says the district will also hire two social workers and an elementary school guidance counselor. The school board is also being asked to spend $30,000 on outsourced mental health services.
