Iowa's three public universities are being asked to cut even more from their budgets. The state Department of Management Friday said a total of $2.7 million will be cut from Iowa State, Iowa, and Northern Iowa. That's on top of $18 million in cuts the legislature said the schools needed to make to close a gap in state revenues. Higher education is being asked to cut a total of nearly $5.5 million in this new round of cuts. Department of Management director David Roderer says they're also cutting supplies and equipment purchases. He says the department has until the end of the month to find $12 million in cuts.
