Ames police are identifying the officers and victims involved in a weekend drive-by shooting in Campustown. The department announced Tuesday that 22-year-old Kyle Heaton of Ames, and 22-year-old Antwane Gordon and 24-year-old Naronne Willie Cole, Junior, of Fort Dodge, were struck by gunfire early Sunday morning. Police officials have said their injuries did not appear life-threatening. They add Heaton was not involved in a fight that preceded the shooting, but Gordon and Cole were. Ames police also identify the officers involved as sergeant Derek Grooters, a 12-year member of the department, and officer Clint Hertz, who's been with the force for nine years. The officers are on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues. Four people are charged in connection with the shooting.
