Trump Administration Easing Restrictions On Coal Plants

The Environmental Protection Agency is relaxing Obama-era restrictions on coal-fire power plants.  EPA Chief Andrew Wheeler said the requirements to capture carbon dioxide emissions were keeping new plants from being built and putting a financial hardship on the coal industry.  Wheeler is a former coal industry lobbyist.  The Trump Administration released a Congressionally-mandated report two weeks ago that said climate change is real and getting worse, and it was going to cost the U.S. economy hundreds of billions of dollars by the end of this century.  President Donald Trump has said he doesn't believe it.  The coal industry in the U.S. has been struggling because of cheaper electricity produced from natural gas and renewable energy.
