(Iowa) -- A recent court ruling in a suit filed by the Iowa Attorney Generals' office finds a company selling unproven stem cell treatments engaged in deceptive practices and violated numerous Iowa laws.

The court ruled that Biologics Health, LLC and Summit Partners Group, LLC as well as their joint owners, Rylee Meek and Scott Thomas, committed 27 violations Iowa law. The owners sent out three hundred fifty thousand mailers inviting Iowans to attend seminars with supposed experts in regenerative medicine, despite those supposed experts having no formal medical training. The Iowa Attorney General's office say at least 175 affected Iowans who purchased the unproved stem cell treatments will be reimbursed, and the owners are ordered to pay $2.5 million dollars in reimbursements and fees.

The court ruled the company's practices violated the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act and the Iowa Door-to-Door Sales Act. The court's full decision is available on the Iowa Attorney General's Office website.
