Torrential Rain Douses Central, Eastern Iowa

Torrential rain doused Iowa in the overnight hours and continued into this morning in Central and Eastern Iowa.

Buchanan and Johnson Counties report over 4 and a half inches of rain. Highway 150 in Buchanan was impassible in some areas around 8 am.

Cedar, Iowa, and Linn Counties report over 3 and a half of inches of rain. A flash flood warning was issued for Cedar Rapids after over 3 and a half inches fell in the overnight hours through Saturday morning.

Rain reports for the Quad Cities includes 2.0 inches in Davenport and 2.17 in Muscatine at the time this story is posted, but more rain is possible.

In Central Iowa, the strongest storms stayed south of the metro area with severe thunderstorms in Madison and Warren Counties. 1 and a half to 1 and 3.4 inch sized hail was reported in Winterset.
