One man killed, a second injured in northern Iowa head-on crash

(Hardin County, IA) -- One man is dead, a second is injured after a crash on highway 20 in Hardin County. The Iowa State Patrol says 61-year-old Bryan Harken of Spencer was killed in a crash this (Friday) morning around 10:30. Eighteen-year-old Alexzander Purman of Elkader was injured and air-lifted to a Des Moines hospital. The I-S-P says Purman was driving a Chevy Avalanche and was headed eastbound, when he entered the median and continued in the westbound lanes, hitting Harken's Ford Explorer head-on.

The crash happened on Highway 20 at mile marker 169, which is east of Highway 65.
