Iowa farmers start planting 2021 corn crop

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa farmers have started planting corn for this year's crop.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture's Weekly Crop Report says just four percent of the state's corn is in the ground.

They say farmers are were slowed last week by snow and cold soil temperatures that limited field work to four-and-a-half days.

The department says there are scattered reports of soybean planting across Iowa.
