Special Election results: Ankeny, Johnston approve school funding measures

Iowans went to the polls across 64 counties for Special Elections on Tuesday.

In Central Iowa, voters overwhelmingly approved school funding measures for Ankeny and Johnston Schools.

Ankeny says the the money could go toward property tax relief, IT infrastructure, school safety and security, and remodels, among other costs.

Johnston has been using the funds for a new high school, building renovations, HVAC updates and new baseball and softball fields.

Mitchellville voters did not support the plans for a new $1.5 million dollar fire station using general obligation funds.

In the race for Mayor of Indianola, the unofficial results have current Mayor Pam Pepper winning by just eight votes.

She stepped into the role after Mayor Kelly Shaw resigned last fall. She'll be up for election again in November.
