Ames Public Schools to Start Bringing Students Back to Classrooms Fulltime

AMES, Iowa - The Ames school district is bringing some students back to classrooms fulltime.

The school board voted Thursday night to start 100 percent in-person classes for Pre-School though 5th grade.

Pre-School though 2nd grade will be the first group back in classrooms on November 9th.

The Ames district says it'll share more information Friday.

The school board discussed returning students to face-to-face learning at its Monday meeting, and mentioned the possibility starting high school in the second semester.

The district currently uses local standards, which would only call for fulltime in-person classes if Story County's 14-day positivity rate is 5 percent or lower. The county's current rate is 6.2 percent as of Friday morning.
