Iowa Seeing Record Absentee Ballot Requests

Des Moines, IOWA -- The Iowa Secretary of State's Office is reporting a record number of absentee ballot requests for the upcoming elections.

There have been more than 827,000 requests for absentee ballots out of nearly 2.2 million registered, active voters in Iowa.

The Secretary of State's Office has also updated the political party registration data.

Statewide there are 691,000 registered Republicans, 684-thousand Democrats, and 637-thousand not registered with a political party.

Democrats narrowly outnumber Republicans in Iowa's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Congressional Districts, but Republicans far outnumber Democrats in the 4th District.

There are 164-thousand inactive voters in Iowa.

The last day to request an absentee ballot is this Saturday, October 24th.
