(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa Secretary of State's Office is reporting a record 875,000 absentee ballot requests for the upcoming November election. The previous record was 693,000 set in 2016. The Iowa Secretary of State's Office says roughly 570-thousand Iowans have already voted.
There are nearly 2.2 million registered, active voters in Iowa.
The Secretary of State's Office has also updated the political party registration data.
Statewide, there are 691-thousand registered Republicans, 684-thousand Democrats, and 637-thousand residents not registered with a political party.
Democrats narrowly outnumber Republicans in Iowa's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Congressional District, but Republicans far outnumber Democrats in the 4th District.
The Iowa Secretary of state also says there are 164-thousand inactive voters.
