Storm damage in Ames causes citywide outage

Storms on Monday hit central Iowa hard, causing power outages and tree damage throughout the state.

Ames saw a city-wide power outage on Monday, with trees and power lines down throughout the city.

The Ames Water Plant is asking residents to limit their water use during the outage.

The city will determine a public site to drop off tree limbs and other debris on Tuesday morning.

The Story County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to stay off roadways so that emergency responders can get the roads cleared and power lines cleaned up.
