AMES, Iowa -- Damage from Monday's powerful thunderstorms is closing some Iowa highways and interstates.
The Department of Transportation says Interstate 35 between Ames and Alleman is closed in both directions, as is I-380 between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
The DOT says there are no detours for the interstate closures as several of the usual detour routes also have debris and power lines over the roads.
The Iowa DOT is asking drivers to limit travel in those area until crews can get out to remove power lines and clear debris.
