4-Year-Old Twins Survive Car Crash, Climb 200-Foot Embankment Seeking Help

Twin four-year-old girls were strapped into their car seats when their dad's car careened off a dark and winding road in Washington State. Their father, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was killed as his car rolled down a 200-foot embankment, but the girls were relatively unharmed.

They managed to undo the restraints on their car seats and crawled through a broken window out of the wreckage. The pair then climbed back up the embankment and started walking along the unlit road. A motorist driving past stopped when she saw the pair wandering on the side of the road and called 911.

First responders located the vehicle, and the girls' father, Corey M. Simmons, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two girls were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. Officials do not believe that weather was a factor in the crash and said that it did not appear that Simmons was intoxicated, but are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine if he had drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.

The girls' half-sister, Rebecah Crider, was thankful that a motorist, who did not wish to be named, stopped to help the young twins.

“We are so incredibly thankful, and we are desperately looking for who she is," she told local news outlet KING 5. "We would love to personally meet her and thank her.”
