Arizona authorities were forced to correct the record after Cindy McCain, the widow of the late Arizona Senator John McCain, claimed that she helped stop a sex trafficker at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix. Mrs. McCain alerted authorities after she saw a woman with a child of a different ethnicity waiting for a man to get off a plane.
“I went over to the police and told them what I saw, and they went over and questioned her, and, by God, she was trafficking that kid,” she told KTAR.
It turns out that police did question to woman but found no evidence she was engaged in criminal activity. Mrs. McCain apologized for her statement on Twitter and praised the police for looking into the matter.
At Phoenix Sky Harbor, I reported an incident that I thought was trafficking. I commend the police officers for their diligence. I apologize if anything else I have said on this matter distracts from "if you see something, say something."
