Telemarketer claimed blindness, to sell Iowans $$$ products

DES MOINES, Iowa-  A telemarketer who was barred seven years ago, from targeting Iowans, is accused of doing it again.   The Iowa Attorney General says John Zampieri of Destin, Florida and an Alabama company are accused of using telemarketers who lied about being blind to sell overly-priced freezer bags, light bulbs, and air fresheners.

The AG's  Office says Zampieri and Life Quest of America of Mobile, Alabama violated Iowa's Consumer Fraud Act, and under a consent agreement entered by Polk County Judge Celene Gogerty, must pay 12-thousand dollars to Iowa consumers who bought Life Quest products, and pay 12-thousand  dollars to the state.

“We have repeatedly uncovered deceptive practices by Zampieri’s operations. This is egregious conduct,” said Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller.
