Iowa's Ag-Gag law has been ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge.
The law was passed by the legislature in 2012 after several reports by activists who surreptitiously applied as workers at agriculture facility which talked about supposed abuse at the facilities. The law creates the crime of agricultural facility fraud.
In US District Court of the Southern District of Iowa, the judge said that the law targets free speech. The law, according to the judge, attempts to criminalize speech.
ACLU of Iowa Legal Director Rita Bettis (pictured) says its one of a growing number of similar laws in other states that have been tossed by federal courts recently.
