Iowa jobless rate steady in April

Iowa Workforce Development reports the state's jobless rate held steady last month at 2.8 percent, which remains lower than the US unemployment rate of 3.9 percent. The total number of working iowans increased to 1,627,200 in April. 10,300 jobs have been added to Iowa’s total non-farm employment since last April. Manufacturing continues to lead all sectors in annual job gains while retail trade continues to show signs of shrinking.
