Iowa farmland rent prices down again

A recent Iowa State University Extension survey reveals rental rates for Iowa farmland are down for the fourth straight year. This comes after 14 consecutive years of rental price increases between 2000 and 2013. Prices have declined nearly 19-percent the last four years and dropped by nearly five-percent in the last year. Despite the decline, cash rents aren't dropping as fast as crop prices. Corn fell by about 60-percent in the last four years. Rental rates average $219 per acre statewide.
