Saturday Mornings Relived

Good morning, couple of days of vacation left and nothing planned. No Cyclone football today so it actually gave me a full Saturday with no sports program to do. Started the day off with a good breakfast and heavy dose of Hopalong Cassidy with the comedic talents of Andy Clyde as his sidekick. Started to miss my old Hopalong Cassidy and Topper lunch box with a thermos full of Lambert milk. I couldn't remember which of the local dairies had Hoppy on their bottles. Saturday mornings spent on the living room floor eating Frosted Flakes and watching my favorite cartoons. Using my remote channel changer, I called it Dave, to switch the massive 15 inch Emerson black and white screen to desired programming and adjusting the rabbit ears for best picture results. Mixed in were adventures with Sky King, Roy Rogers, Rin Tin Tin and Captain Midnight. The Captain constantly dropping Crazy Legs Hirsch's name in an effort to get us to drink Ovaltine. I can still hear the screams from the Royal Chamber to "Turn that damn TV down". Beany and Cecil, Winky Dink, Tom Terrific, Pow Wow the Indian Boy, Crusader Rabbit, Mighty Mouse, Bugs Bunny and so many more that kept us entertained until those lazy friends got up so we could go out and play. This is the closest I can come to a time machine I'll let my memory provide the voices and argue with the dog about what cartoons we should watch, he's a damn poor replacement for brother DAVE! Enjoy your weekend.
