I Love Rain

Sitting back, windows open, listening to the thunder and rain. Eyes closed, memories flooding of so many moments long ago. "Can't go outside" Grandma said, but I knew my shipmate was waiting next door to sail the boats we made destined for the storm drain at the end of the street. Some times the rain made us run for shelter, other times in a slow stroll it washed away the worries of a miserable day. It's sad that the puddles, in youth, that we splashed in for joy, we now avoid as if they present some kind of unknown danger."He doesn't know enough to come out of the rain" they would say. Well today they'll be right as I put on my shoes for a walk, no umbrella, just me, my thoughts and my old friend the rain.
