Ames RAGBRAI stop tabbed a success

Ames police officials say Tuesday's overnight RAGBRAI stay was a success.  Cmdr. Geoff Huff says organziers were able to get 20,000 riders and supporters into and out of town largely without incident.  Hef says they were challenged by a number of riders who weren't officially recognized by RAGBRAI, that came to Ames without a place to camp.  He says many of them pitched tents in Bandshell, O'Neil, and Moore Memorial parks--all technically off-limits to camping. Huff says a cyclist suffered a broken leg after being hit by a car Tuesday night.  He says the rider was at fault in the incident.  Huff also says there were some traffic delays Wednesday near Highway 30 and Dayton Ave. as the cyclists made their way out of town.
