The Ames Police Department is investigating a sexual assault and an attempted sexual assault that happened last week in west Ames. Both victims say they were assualted by two white males. The department says it’s unclear if the attacks are related. On Facebook, police say a woman reported a sexual assault committed by two men that occurred between 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. last Tuesday in the 300 block of Ash Ave. Another woman told police two men tried to grab her and pull her behind some buildings near lettie street around 2:30 a.m. the previous Sunday. Police say she escaped after a struggle. While there are similarities in the case, investigators can’t yet say they’re related as the suspects haven’t been identified and there’s not enough information about their descriptions.
