Iowa Workforce Development says the state unemployment rate is down slightly and is among the lowest in the country. Iowa's jobless rate fell 2.8 percent in March. The national unemployment rate is 4.1 percent. Only Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire and North Dakota have lower unemployment rates.
