The top administrator in the Ames School District is keeping a nervous eye on the closing days of the 2018 Legislative session, and a proposal could cost the district money it's already planned to use. Superintendent Tim Taylor says House and Senate leadership's plan to elminate a $150 million pool of money that backfills lost corporate property tax dollars under a 2013 reform law would hit the district in the most sensative part of it's budget--the general fund, which pays salaries, transportation, and maintenance. Taylor says budget cuts would come in a spending plan that's already been approved by the school board and submitted to the state.
