Rolling out CyRide "2.0"

The Ames transit system is undergoing the first re-design in its history. Director Sheri Kyras says "CyRide 2.0" comes after nearly two years of study, including consultants riding every route and asking riders for their opinions.  Among the changes, she says fares will be reduced in May from from a $1.25 to $1.00.  Kyras says a $.25 increase in 2011 has resulted in reduced ridership every year since.  She says a $45,000 revenue loss from the new fare reducation will be made up for by the city.  Kyras says they utimately hope in increase in riders will make up for the city money.  She also says extensive changes to cyride routes will be rolled out in August before the return of Iowa State University students for the fall semester.
