Here’s an actual e-mail conversation between me and a listener while I was doing the show today. Names have changed to protect the…well, you get it.

Listener:  Turning station till Dave comes on.

Host:  OK.  Nine minute left.

Listener: Can only take so much

Host:  Me too

Now, I know who this guy is, what he does for a living, and that he’s a conservative who really, really, really doesn’t like the President.  At all.  Not even a little.  And, while he’s also made public his disdain for me, he continues to listen and will e-mail me the occasional “shot across
the bow.”  And, no kidding, I really appreciate it.

You ask yourself what’s the “so much” in question that he could “only take so much” of?  I was talking to our media and politics guru Jeff Stein about Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus’ report on ways the RNC can succeed in 2014 and 2016.  This was a report Priebus
commissioned. It’s an “internal” document for the RNC and the criticisms it contained were from its own people.

I’m more than willing to accept that the afore-mentioned listener was tired of my little dog-and-pony show.  But…

Are we really this afraid of a little criticism, even when it comes from your own team?  Priebus is paid by the RNC to do what’s best for his party and will return them to power in the Senate in 2014, and the White House in 2016.  The GOP’s faithful can put its hands over its ears and not take the advice offered, but know that it comes at your peril, and to the delight of every Democrat in the nation.
