A pretty run-of-the mill Ames City Council meeting this evening...

The Council will hold a hearing on the establishment of an Urban Revitalization Area for the land and building of the former Roosevelt Elementary school property.  This would make some tax abatement available for the project, and has enjoyed broad city council support.

The council will also act on flood mitigation for the Northridge Parkway subdivision and Moore Memorial Park area.  Storm sewers in this area were not able to keep up with the record rains in 2010 which made for lots of wet basements.

Finally, the council will consider whether or not to ask for a master plan for development of a retirement communtity in northwest Ames across George Washington Carver Drive from the northside Fareway store.

7:18PM--Well, that was uneventful.  The Roosevelt URA passes unanimosly, with no comments.

7:20PM--And, there goes the flood mitigation issue, again unanimous passage and no comments.

7:23PM--And, there's the master plan issues, unanimous passage, no comments.  There is, right now, just one more agenda item left.  I think it took more time for me to get coffee and drive to City Hall than this meeting will run.  No kidding, this may be a record.

7:30PM--And, we're done.  My head is spinning.
