I was at the Bandshell Concert the other night when they asked our veterans to stand and be recognized, felt the mixed feelings of tears and pride. the knockout punch was when they asked the WWII Veterans to remain standing. I counted four and suddenly felt I was not worthy of being there. As many of you realize I am not a man of few words but I assure you that my entire life I have been unable to full...y express my appreciation for their sacrifice. Their battles have never really ended as they have relived those years throughout their lives. They have kept their brothers in arms alive through their memories and eventually sharing those, as difficult as it sometimes was, with us as time has passed. We are forever in the debt of all our men and women who have served but time is quickly passing for these veterans. Old Soldiers never die, they live through the Freedoms we enjoy, and I will forever be indebted and hold them in my heart.
