We don't have too many of these basketball-filled weekends ahead so let's make the most of this one. Tonight, the Ames High boys hoops squad tries to extend their season when they take on Ankeny Centennial in Ankeny. The Jaguars won pretty handily the last time these teams played but it has been a while. We'll find out if the Little Cyclones have improved enough to hang with them tonight. The game starts at 7:00. Our coverage starts at 6:45. The ISU men's basketball team has a chance to sweep Kansas State but they'll need to win at "The Octogon of Doom". KSU is one of two Big 12 teams that hasn't lost a home game this season. That game tips at 6:00 tomorrow night and you can here it on our sister station, Now 105.1 FM starting at 5:30. We'll have ISU women's hoops on News Talk 1430 KASI tomorrow night. The Cyclones women can sweep Kansas and clinch at least a .500 record in the conference season with a win in Lawrence. That would pretty much guarantee a berth in the NCAA tournament. Tip at Phog Allen Fieldhouse is at 7:00, pre-game at 6:30. Enjoy the games!
A little bit about me....
I've been Sports Director at News/Talk 1430 KASI since December 2005. I graduated from Iowa State just a few months before that. My career has also taken me to such exotic locals as Estherville, and Storm Lake, Iowa, Owatonna, Minnesota, and Silver City, New Mexico (long story-don't ask). I've also had the pleasure of working part-time at WOI Radio in Ames and WHO Radio in Des Moines while I was a student.
I'm a native of Maplewood, Minnesota, a suburb of St. Paul. It was there that I was inflicted with the curse of being a Minnesota Vikings fan. There is still no known cure, though many times I wish there was. I'm also an avid follower of the Minnesota Twins and of course, the Iowa State Cyclones.
