It's that time of year that we who live in a university community bear witness on the creativity of students moving to new apartments and rental homes. Boxes are a rare commodity so other forms of transport are created, garbage bags seem most popular for smaller items, the larger items are the problem. One thing we have learned never to do is follow behind a car where the mattress is being held on the roof by a passenger inside, the roadways are dotted with unsuccessful attempts and the abandoned carcasses littering the curbsides. The unloading zones are created for all types of vehicles and trailers and police have learned great patience and help to quell the tempers of neighbors who might be a bit inconvenienced. Overall it is an experiment in tolerance that comes every year and once it ends acceptance is automatic.
