Privileged Again

I was honored with the hosting of the ribbon cutting officially opening Ames Miracle Field and Playground.

It was a drizzly Saturday morning but nothing could diminish the heightened excitement of what was about to happen. It started with a game on the Miracle Field. As player after player came to bat or took to the field I couldn't help but be overjoyed as I realized the benefit this brought to our community. I was given a microphone to supplement the regular announcer but never once used it as I renewed old friendships with folks I hadn't seen for over a year, hugs and handshakes abound as the game went on. After the game as I introduced the speakers I was covered with hugs from the athletes themselves, many of which I had become acquainted with through the Special Olympics Summer Games our city hosts each year. As I walked to my car after the event a flood of emotions came over me. So often I've been asked "Why have you chosen Ames to spend your life in?" and once again I thought "Why would I live anywhere else?" I LOVE L.A....LOVELY AMES!

Ames High Baseball dominates the Airwaves tonight as they take on another CIML foe at 4:45 pm. Catch all the action with KASI Sports Director Dave Sprau on the home town Station of the Little Cyclones 1430 KASI, 1430kasi.com and on your FREE iHeart app.
