In the last few days I have found myself engaged in watching old black and white movies, not the silent ones but the talkies. I found their bloodless mysteries and crimes to be refreshing, that the need for gore was minimal and unnecessary. Some would say without those two things that they lack reality, I say there is enough reality daily on our streets to frighten me more than any big screen could provide. It's a type of non violent violence that reassures you it's only a movie and won't give you nightmares or have you looking under your bed and inside your closet before sleeping. The simplicity and yet somewhat challenging plots coupled with a different style of acting keeps me entertained without a cinematic hangover.
