The Ames Police Department is investigating the discovery, this morning, of a body on a local golf course. Cmdr. Geoff Huff says officers were called to the Coldwater Golf Links at 1400 S. Grand Ave just after 10:00 this morning. He says people playing the course found an abandoned golf bag, and notified police. Officers found the body some distance away. Huff says the death is suspicious, and they're asking the public to stay away from the area. The golf course is currently closed, and is expected to be through Tuesday. Huff says investigators hope to get video from private cameras that may be in the area. ISU Police has issued a "timely warning," which is standard practice when a crime is committed near campus. The victim name hasn't been released, pending notification of family.
