Council shrinks Downtown Gateway corridor

The Ames City Council used the final reading of a rezoning ordinance establishing a Downtown Gateway Corridor on Lincoln Way to make the area smaller.  The new boundary is from Duff Ave. west to an area on Gilchrist Ave. Third Ward council member David Martin says the far corner of the original rezoning area that extended to Grand Ave. wasn't necessarily consistant with the city's goals for the corridor. At-Large council member Bronwyn Beatty-Hansen says she thinks it's important to leave the Clark Ave.-Lincoln Way intersection in the corridor. The council also gave final reading approval to standards and acceptable business uses in the new corridor area.
