Sweeney takes oath in Dist. 25

The Iowa Senate is at full strength. Republican Annette Sweeney of Alden was sworn in Monday to serve out former Republican senator Bill Dix's term in District 25. The former Seante Majority Leader resigned after being seen on video kissing a lobbyist in a Des Moines bar.  Sweeney won't serve long before running for re-election as the seat is up for election in November.  She'll face Chad Buss in June's Republican primary.  If Sweeney wins the primary she'll face her opponent from last week's special election--Democrat Tracey Freese of Dike.
