Auditor looks into UI professor's spending

An investigation into the misuse of funds by a University of Iowa physics professor reveals nearly $100,000 in improper disbursements and undeposited conference registration fees.  The audit was requested by the university after some issues were raised surrounding Professor Michael Flatte.  In a statement, the university says it's reviewing possible disciplinary action and the auditor's recommendations.  State Auditor Mary Mosiman says the university should implement procedures to ensure compliance with policies by employees.
