Ames council to consider rental ordinance

The Ames City Council will consider, Tuesday, first passage of an ordinance limiting rental occupancy in single- and two-family homes.  Mayor Ann Campbell says the ordinance was delayed from the last meeting so city staff could turn back widespread misinformation among ISU students that the ordinance would be more restrictive to students who wanted to rent houses off-campus. She says the council will also hear from city staff on a proposed affordable housing development on the site of the old middle school. Campbell says infrastructure costs are more than $300,000 over budget. Tuesday night's meeting in city hall starts at 6:00.
