Ames city election ballot is set

The ballot is set for November's city election in Ames.  After Thursday filing deadline, voters will see two contested and two uncontested races in city hall.  Former City Council member Victoria Szopinski will face local architect John Haila in the mayor's race. Mayor Ann Campbell announced earlier this year she would not seek a fourth term.  In the city's 3rd Ward, Rob Bowers, a long-time member of the Iowa State University Police Department, will face business software consulting firm owner David Martin for the seat being vacated by two-term council member Peter Orazem.  Two other incumbents--Gloria Betcher in the 1st Ward and At-Large member Amber Corrieri are running unopposed.  City elections are November 7th.
