The Ames Police Department is investigating a armed robbery Wednesday night in Campustown. Cmdr. Geoff Huff says the crime was reported at about 8:45 p.m. at an ATM in the 100 block of Welch Ave. The victim says he was robbed at gunpoint just after taking money out of the machine. The victim described the man with the gun as as a black male adult in his 20’s, approximately 6’1” tall, with a muscular build. The victim says a light skinned black male, approximately 6’2” tall, slender, with a black ball cap on backwards, stood a short distance away. Both men left together in a black sedan. Anyone with information on the crime is urged to call the Ames Police Department.
