Boone Council Member Joins Governor's Race

A Boone city council member is launching a run for governor. Republican Steven Ray announced last week he'll challenge governor Kim Reynolds for the GOP nomination. The 46-year-old Ray graduated from Iowa State in 1992, spent seven years with the Boone County Sheriff's Office as 911 dispatcher and 22 years with the state patrol as a communications specialist . He's been on the Boone city council since 2004. Cedar Rapids mayor Ron Corbett is also running for the Republican nomination. The primary is next June.
