Grassley calls out VA chief

Iowa senator Chuck Grassley says officials at the Department of Veteran Affairs appear to have misled the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding the length of time veterans are waiting to get health appointments.  In a letter to VA Secretary David Shulkin, Grassley said the VA had assured that no wait times beyond 90 days existed.  A whistleblower presented data to the senator's staff showing that as recently as March hundreds of Iowa vets were waiting between one and two years for an appointment.  Grassley called the lengthy wait times "completely unacceptable" and "extremely disturbing."  Shulkin says it's a misunderstanding, but Grassley says the VA has to "come clean" about the issue.
