Iowa crop planting on pace

Eighty-five percent of Iowa's corn and 40-percent of soybeans are now planted.  State Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey says farmers took advantage of good weather last week, and are just a couple of days behind last year's pace, and several days ahead of the five year average.  Central Iowa farmers lead the way, with 90 percent of corn planted. The latest report shows 86 percent of the topsoil moisture is adequate, and 84 percent of subsoil mositure is adequate. It's a little soggier in southwest and south-central Iowa.
